" 'What is a man if not mere cattle for us' ''? That is what you think, yes? Well, i am a friend of common men, for they posses the most precious thing in the world: the soul. With this body i can give the common people whatever dreams they may have, but all, my friend, comes with a price."

- Azazel to Balazar

AZAZEL

Azazel is a Fiend of the Nulgath's Nation, he currently runs Tercessuinotlim alongside Dirtlicker, the necromancer. He was not yet seen in the game Adventure Quest Worlds, but plays a huge role on the Nation's infrastructure and the outcome of the Evil War in the Underworld.

Biography

Azazel, the Fiend of deceit was one of Miltonius' first diciples, a mere human who seeked power beyond his comprehension and ascend to a higher form, leaving his mortal flesh behind. He met MIltonius after hearing of rumors regarding the Inquisitor's Citadel, stories about demons and a messiah of darkness that came from the abyss to share his knowledge and power with mortals from lore. After finding his way through the rough caves, he managed to enter Tercessuinotlim and was almost killed several times by the Makai, Voids and other fiends. When he finally met the Archfiend, the contract was sealed, and the fragile human body was not capable of handling such power and knowlege, making him mutate into a more fiendish kind of body. After seing the Abyss and its wonders for the first time, he proclaimed that no more would bear a mortal name and became Azazel.

Azazel had a special power that only a few high fiends possess, the ability to create the Contracts, to deceive mortals like he previously was in seek of power, wealth, and such. That is why he spends more of his time in Lore than Tercessuinotlim, the realm of Miltonius. To deceive foolish humans who pledge their alliance to Azazel, lending their soul to the fiend. The more souls he claims, the more powerful he gets, and more his body changes over the years. To this day, Azazel's body is changing as he grows in power.

Nulgath the Archfiend (previously Miltonius) discovered his plans and tried to take him down, but before that could happen, the Evil War in the underworld was already taking place. Unbeknownst to the Nation, Azazel had a big impact on the outcome of the war. It was him who planted the seed of undead into the fiends of Nulgath, assuring the Paragon's victory and his banishment to the Oversoul.

After the events of the war, the fiend teamed up with the necromancer Dirtlicker to fool Nulgath and take over his Nation for themselves. Azazel constructed the ArchPortal, an imitation of the Underworld Gates that, couldn't bring Nulgath and his army back to Lore, but made them contact with each other. Because of this marvelous invention, the Archfiend decided that Azazel would be forgiven and would spare him.

In the present days, Azazel and Dirtlicker are the ones that watch over Tercessuinotlim and the remaining fiends from the war. Because of Azazel's most unique power, they can recruit members to the Nation keeping the faction alive. Nowadays, the goals of Dirtlicker are to free the Nation from the influence and power of the Shadowscythe army and bring Nulgath back from the Oversoul, while Azazel's plans remain unknown, all we know is that he is growing more in power and has enough souls to create an army of demons.

The Mystcroft disaster

Not much is known, but Mystcroft was once a friendly place for all humans to live in, with no signs of even monsters, it was a quiet and peaceful village, run by aristocrat men and women, the hierarchy in the city was rather just, and the inhabitants could live in peace. One day, the place simply vanished and gave place to a ghost town, full of the most terrifying monsters in Lore, and hiding great secrets withing them. Azazel's tale not only is connected to The Mystcroft disaster, but it also explains the causa of the sudden disappearance of the city and its people.

The tale tells of a man named Balazar, a count of Mystcroft that desired more power within the city, but could not. One day the man, drunk after a party was wandering across the Marsh's river, sobbing for being week. As he went deeper and deeper into the woods, he started hearing a voice that got louder the more he walked, an attractive voice, a powerful one. He met Azazel, the Fiend of deceit, by the end of the river in the entrance to the monster's domain, standing with his body covered in his coat, as is his face. He tells Balazar: "I know how it is, feeling weak and powerless beyond such a massive and powerful world. I can make you better, and i can show you the true world where only the strong survive.".

Those words penetrated Balazar's weak and feeble mind like a neelde in silk, and he approached the demon interested in his proposal. Azazel made showed him a contract and asked him to sign it, wich he did with the utmost pleasure. Now the demon has control over Balazar's soul and made him one of his fiends, he immediatly destroyed Mystcroft and its population, leaving room for the marsh's monsters to enter the now abandoned city, that was commanded by Balazar, ruler of Mystcroft.

The fall of the Archfiend

Ghriik

The next tale tells of a meeting of Azazel, the Fiend of deceit and Nulgath the ArchFiend. Much of the content is not described by the author, but it is established the kind of relation Azazel and Nulgath's relationship as well as adding to both character's background and introducing Ghriik, the Blood Void as an antagonistic force in Azazel's story.

Some statements of Azazel might be false, like his wish to do his master's bidding or his activities before the meeting. We can presume that Azazel was already making contact with Dage the Evil because the tale specifies that the meeting occured in January 2012, a few months before the Evil War of the Underworld, and the reading of Azazel's thoughts: "Perhaps he knows...".

Ghriik, the Blood Void has been tasked by Nulgath with promises of rewarding him fine gear, the mission of assassinating Azazel, the Fiend of deceit. Ghriik's powers are still unknown and the outcome of that mission is unfinished, for it is a fact that Ghriik is still alive.

Appearance

Azazel is a gray colored fiend with details in green to match his glowy eyes and various black graffiti-like spikes over his body for protection of his skin. He wears a equally gray colored coat that sometimes is closed to hide the fact that he is a fiend to humans he decieves. Azazel has beige horns that grow the more souls he consumes, he can decrease their size or hide them under the hood of his coat to hide his demon-like appearance to others. As described before, his appearance changes whenever he consumes many souls of the damned, so Azazel's appearance will eventually change and will keep on changing for eternity.

Toxicobon

Azazel's Toxic Oblivion Blade

His weapon, the Toxic Oblivion Blade is a revamp of the original Oblivion Blade of Miltonius, imbued with Azazel's very essence. The sword has a graffiti-like handle and hand guard with details in green and a also green colored gem in the midle of the guard. The blade is a green one with spikes over it that goes brighter until it gets to the edge of the sword, starting from dark green and going to light green. The teeth and eyes of the blade also changed, adopting the green-like motiff of the rest of the sword. The blade also has details of black that strech all the way until the end of the blade.

Abilities

- Runic Transportation: Azazel can instantly teleport to any place that hold any kind of stone with Nulgath's or his runes carved on it, by transfering his particles to another place. Only works in Lore.

- Undying Warlord: The fiend is very bulky, has a lot of defense and can't be taken down easily, also has resistance to any stuns and crowd control abilities.

- Super speed: Azazel is twice as fast as a normal human being would be, however, he cannot run for long, since his body in the current state isn't very aerodynamic and is very bulky, making him fatigue if Azazel runs for more than 5 minutes.

- Super strength: The fiend possesses supernatural strength, that only seems to grow when his body goes through a transformation. He can lift giant rocks and break the hardest metal with his bare hands.

- Shackle: Azazel controls two spirit chains that grab the target and will stay on it immobilizing the target completely.

- Unshackle: Breaking the chains that bind the foul targeted by "Shackle", Azazel can deal massive damage directly to the soul of the target unbinded.

- Contract: Azazel's most unique ability, to create contracts that bind the target's soul to himself, giving him free will to make the person who signed the contract whatever he wants to do.

- Habeas Corpus: The more souls Azazel consumes with his "Contract", the more powerful he will become, making his body go through several transformation that only seem to make him stronger and habe no sign of stopping as long as he keeps consuming the souls of the weak.
